because oh god, the last one is 800+ long now. give me a second to c/p everything like i did last time, because i feel the need to be organized like that
Ty "Percy" Beard filed a request to postpone the hearing currently scheduled for 8 August, when he was supposed to be responding to all of this (which, more on that later)
objection to motion to continue from monica and ron, talking about beard's emails and him appearing on... i think it was blackface lawyer's show. someone's show over on Team Creep
which is all important, because beard tried to claim to the court that he needed to delay for more time, but his emails and him fucking around on a show clearly show that's a false statement, which is just outright lying to the court
relatedly, todd haberkorn might come up again, so a quick reminder on his fuckery, while I'm compiling a tale of absolute garbage men doing garbage bullshit
as a note, vaguely recently, VicCons and Screech tried to drum up fake outrage over some old dub outtakes from, like, early 2000s or something where people made jokes that wouldn't fly today, because that's just as bad as Vic's nonsense, or something
The first argument, literally on the first page, is that Funimation's work environment "was amorous and sexually-charged", citing the existence of Panty & Stocking as proof
The second page is mostly pictures of the voice actors doing "raunchy" promotional stuff for the show. (I use quotation marks because it's all pretty mild.)
Oh yikes. I'm skimming further ahead and he's doing the "if she was so concerned for her safety and the safety of others why didn't she come forward earlier?" line with Jamie.
Okay, so the actual argument isn't that long (about 50 pages). He's just decided to attach ALL the previous exhibitions like the affidavits and the deposition transcripts. I can't even tell if there's anything new in the exhibitions because they don't seem to be in any particular order.
So if there is anything new, the judge is going to have to shift through 1000+ pages of all the old stuff to find it. which I'm sure won't piss him off at all. c:
Also, it turns out that because of the way electronic files work in Texas, a document transmitted on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday is considered to have been filed on the next day that isn't one of those. Which in this case is next Tuesday.
I probably don't need to always do all this copy/pasting, but it makes me feel better to just... get it all together in order and shit, and hopefully it also helps new people finding more recent plurks and not having to go through the hundreds of comments in previous plurks
I would suggest, from here on out, that anything at the very top of a previous plurk doesn't need to be relinked so long as you link the previous plurks
actually - I would suggest maybe having an info-dump plurk that can just be ongoing and added to, and then chain-link the discussion plurks here like this? that way all the info is always compiled somewhere neatly and tidily, if that's all someone wants to go through?
upside: with all the relevant info staying in a single plurk and being curated there, it'll grow a lot more slowly... and the new discussion plurks won't start off being 150 replies long right off the bat.
... We've gotten to the point where just talkiing about this has to be formally organized, this is a new category of wild. (AKA: This is my way of joining the newest thread)
> Today, I feel angry on [Vic's] behalf. His lawyers just screwed him. This... Yeah. Vic is absolutely one of the villains here, but in a very, very specific way, his lawyers are even worse.
The part that hurts me is realizing that Vic is going to be the one stuck with the bill, and the lawyers could get off almost scot-free unless the Texas Bar steps in (which I don't think has been confirmed a thing yet).
Even when it's a Vic-level shitstain I do not like the idea of him getting scammed this hard, even if I do recognize this is the most justice ever likely to be put on him for all he's done
Yeah, like...I have zero sympathy for Vic, but it's a basic right in our justice system that even the worst shitstain deserves at least vaguely competent legal representation
I want him to lose, and he deserves to lose, but like...he deserves to lose because he's wrong and the lawsuit is bullshit, not because his lawyer can't tell his ass from his elbow
That said, I think I recall in this mess somewhere that Vic picked his legal team,, presumably without a gun to his head, so even that scrap of sympathy goes out the window when you know Vic looked at a pile of shit like Ty Beard, put on his bib, and said "well, guess I'll tuck in"
honestly, I hate Vic's guts, but agreed that he's getting screwed hard for the wrong reasons here. Vicstans are also going to blame the legal team for this debacle, which is half "yeah that's true" and half "Vic is still a piece of shit guys"
I know specifically from Greg's tweets that he's going to report Ty after the case is concluded, in part because of targeting of Greg. he just hasn't since the case is ongoing right now
I'm almost gleeful that beard is such a bad lawyer because he's getting paid to fuck up by the vicstans and they deserve to get their lunch money taken for a ride for supporting this asshole
I don't know what all of the rules are or where the line is drawn, but that is an issue with the asylum seekers in the US right now, asylum and immigration is more civil law, so these people with limited English and law knowledge are on their own unless there's lawyers volunteering with the ACLU or something
I feel bad making fun of an Italian last name when I am myself of Italian descent but honestly South Italy and North Italy are two different fucking countries.
a reminder that vic's team are supposed to be proving they're being harmed in a defamation case, and that they're not actually the defendants
a summary, essentially
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2019-07-29/the-mignogna-deposition/.149401
...So... Apparently Ty didn't turn in three different filings for each defendant. It's a single, 1188-page pdf for all of them.

[kickvic] Discussion Plurk 6
infodump plurk
last plurk (number 5)
next plurk (number 7)
...quite tidy that way, too! easy navigation, no hunting for anything...
This... Yeah. Vic is absolutely one of the villains here, but in a very, very specific way, his lawyers are even worse.
