that's hardly the tip of the iceberg with salvation army. like not paying women who work for them if their husband also works for them. the husband gets a raise and the wife loses her own income.
good luck suing two Texas companies who as Texas companies have the right to fire you for whatever and have corporate chains that run all the way up to Sony and Warner Bros
"I have very reluctantly retained a law firm" LMAO, considering how little time has passed since Funimation announced they would not be pursuing future work with him plus even less time since his public apologies....nah. That's not reluctance at all, Vic.
The thing that bothers me most about Vic supporters is that if he really was innocent, wrongfully terminated, and whatever else. If his livelihood their biggest concern then their hope should be that another studio would pick him up, not fucking raze Funi and ANN to the ground
the way I look at it is that, they are shooting vic in the foot since other studios won't want to hire him if this is the crazy he brings and thus ruin their pr
I honestly am baffled by his little cult followers there. I know this is a minimal thing that's not that relevant, but he's really only relevant in the frickin US too? Or English speaking countries I guess. I can tell you that most people outside the US and that are internet dwellers only know his name BECAUSE of US peeps. Why is a dub voice actor from-
Being held up to such a standard, that his fans in the comments sound like a legit, honest to God cult? Despite all the con goers, other actors and company action pilling into the accusations. These people defending him aren't just rando's that don't know what's happening
The 'neutral' folks are the most frustrating, because they don't even like Vic so much as they refuse all the evidence because they don't like the other side's outliers
yeah, like, he's an actor, so it's not like he's exactly a business, he's in Texas for quite a few of the people who got rid of them and Texas doesn't need a reason to fire you
A lot of Vic's popularity comes from the fact that he was one of the first 'celebrity' voice actors, and he was in the first wave of voice actors that helped... I don't want to say 'legitimize', but made English dubbing a little more prestigious rather than just something companies did to get their shows syndicated.
A C list voice actor versus the biggest dubbing group in the US and an old website than it 20+ years. This is bait and his fans are stupid for falling for it.
Oh yeah, there's always been dirt on him, even back when he was dubbing Ed. But his career history is part of why he's been able to shake off the accusations so far.
As for 'owning' ANN, people are probably thinking of that time Hogan sued the shit out of Gawker for releasing a sex tape with him in it, which resulted in them going bankrupt and having to sell the company.
So that's a possible outcome if he sues ANN. But since suing ANN (if he even bothers with them, this is probably a wrongful termination suit) would be defamation case he'd have to prove that they were lying.
But, since ANN was only reporting information told to them by a third party it's unlikely they'll get busted, unless said third parties told ANN that they were lying.
I think he also has to prove that it was ANN and the people that spoke out specifically that caused him to lose his job. I'm not sure how the investigation by Funimation will impact that claim but I don't think it'll swing things in his favor.
tl;dr: defamation cases are pretty fact- and circumstance-specific, and ones that are successful usually involve someone getting caught intentionally telling an obvious lie.
Funimation was investigating since last year, so - not likely. ANN’s article and the fallout probably made them expedite a decision, and also likely ignited a flood of more evidence for them to consider. But.. they were already investigating.
(Not likely that it was what specifically what caused him to lose the roles he’s been kicked from, I mean. If Funimation was already investigating, I wouldn’t be surprised if something were rumbling over at Rooster Teeth too. They would have happened eventually, more than likely, the situation just made it so the companies had to act sooner than later.)
there is literally no solid ground for any of this to even make it into court and if Vic actually has a lawyer on hand they have to be telling him to shut up and drop it
true, though that makes this even more eye rolling bad because he's then just throwing a tantrum with nothing to show for it outside of scamming his cult out of money
for whom it has less to do with liking Vic and more to do with them hating the MeToo movement and wanting to strike at all those mean bitches who lie about nice men and destroy their lives~
(not that the cult surrounding Vic isn't fucking terrifying but I don't think they have the power to have really given this movement momentum by themselves so hearing about the gamergater aspect didn't surprise me at all)
Eugh. A lot of them don't even believe anything about the tons of testimonies against him because "Twitter is hearsay" yet Jamie Marcie is taken completely seriously because they don't understand hyperbole
Jamie Marchi may be on thin ice for straight-ironing a yuri anime's dub script two years back and Sean Schemmel may have an ego and not want to share spotlight with other Gokus, but what they're doing for the side of good now is getting them awful levels of undue harassment.
He probably hasn't been removed because there's likely not been enough time (blu-ray comes out in April), but Vic isn't being listed on the cast on iTunes.
> fucko: God is with you, Vic! > James, aggressively throwing popcorn seeds: P.SURE GOD AIN'T HERE FOR ADULTERY, WHICH VIC ADMITTED TO SO THAT THE WHOLE SEXUAL ASSAULT THING WOULDN'T BE SO BAD
In that one article, he admits to getting fresh with all these ladies. But that it was consentual. While he was dating his girlfriend. And he's a supposed good Christian. Hunh.
It also had quotes straight from him that "Silence is consent." If THAT is your mantra, holy balls I would have so much massive head tilt and stay away from you.
(Sorry, that's one of my biggest bugaboo-hatreds of toxic christianity. The idea that if you are 'saved' you can do no wrong, and you can always be forgiven. You CAN always be forgiven, but you have to MEAN it. That's why you do penance! )
my own personal issues with confession were more I have met very few priests I've felt I could trust and who truly were 'men of god'--and I have a LOT of issues with the church otherwise...
I said elsewhere this is him trying to make money because he has no job now. A man who has VA contracts to sign should have legal representation already through his management.
I legit dont know how he sleeps at night knowing he's taking the allowance money from young girls (take all the money from MeToo hating neckbeards i dont care)
I can't believe how much willful blindness there is on this issue... how many more confirmed accounts of him being sleazy towards underage girls do people need?
oh but I forgot, those are obvious lies, it doesn't matter that there are witnesses and he's even admitted to his own version of events for most of them
which I'm glad, keep shooting him in the foot pleaseHe probably hasn't been removed because there's likely not been enough time (blu-ray comes out in April), but Vic isn't being listed on the cast on iTunes.
> James, aggressively throwing popcorn seeds: P.SURE GOD AIN'T HERE FOR ADULTERY, WHICH VIC ADMITTED TO SO THAT THE WHOLE SEXUAL ASSAULT THING WOULDN'T BE SO BAD
hey, don't bring me into this
but that doesn't make him a predator! !!1
