I saw someone doing an "in my day" kids are so spoiled about some school where there are these dispensers for school supplies. She called this bourgie. OK, they charge 25 cents for a pencil that they can buy at Target for 8 cents. (I checked) That's not bougie.

: Because in my day you had to walk up three hills to go to the general store and buy a piece of lead that you had to scratch to a point with your pen knife. Pfft ready-made pencils in schools!
That's so silly. Even when I was in elementary school, we had a little store in the school where you could buy paper, pencils, and other supplies for a few cents if you were out. It was open for half an hour before school started.

: We had this too! the store was just a closet with a half door and the student council child of the week would be running it and lording over us poors with their stocks of school supplies. They even sold candy.
We had those machines when I was in middle school. They had cute pens and notebooks with a design on the cover or you could get plain ones and I think they were a quarter back then so it's not bougie if inflation hasn't raised the price that much.
I actually saw that same pic as a “back in the day” kinda post like it’s something we used to have but we definitely didn’t, we had school stores that were open during lunch to get stuff you needed
We had pretty much nothing in my high school, now that I think about it. But middle school, we had a school store that sold paper and pencils and the school organizer that we were required to have and folders because they always wanted us to have certain folder colors.

I love this machine. What a brilliant concept.
