Hey I know we all hate the Walmart empire but some of us are poor, so as a heads up, their Marketside soups are all under three dollars in my area and are very nice overall?
We didn't love the lobster bisque or chicken tortilla, but I also... don't love either of those soups in general.
We loved the clam chowder, and potato soup particularly.
The potato soup tastes like homemade soup. Literally. Not my recipe, but someone's! It just tastes like a homemade soup. The clam chowder is the best I've ever had, but I'm fucking land locked, and our seafood places here are legit shit.
So take my excitement over it as you will. It's probably shitty clam chowder if you live somewhere close to the ocean.

yeah tbh there's a lot of good Marketplace brand stuff this year
The mushroom and herb soup was so good with bread.
I was really wary, but also. I'm sick so often and my mobility is slowly degrading so sometimes I need a good meal that doesn't need to be actually cooked by me.
StupidSexyVโš der
yeah their marketplace items are pretty good
I hadn't tried them before but they've turned out to be a consistent for us.
If I'm having a good day, I can crank out soup, three or four loaves of bread, and meal prep for nearly a week.
On a bad day someone else fumbles with meals because I can't get out of bed.
So if I'm going to be useless randomly, I'd rather have good backups than to rely on more snackish things? I hate the term junk food, but idk what else to call it.

<3 if anyone's gonna judge you for canned soup i'm gonna slap them, lol. we don't all always have the energy to crank out a stew every day. canned soup is fine.
King of Games
Rayleys/Nob Hill has their own brand of refrigerated soup and I'm 90% certain it's the panera one repackaged. I even bought both to check.
King of Games
so wouldn't be surprised if the wal mart canned one is the cambells chunky or something
Ooh, I will check that out too. Thanks!
The walmart one is way better than the canned soups, that's the wild thing!
King of Games
oh nice. we don't have Wal mart around here, but I'll be near one when I move in a few months. I'll check it out.
It might be the packaging, but it just tastes fresher. The veggies in the ones I've tried have been nicer than canned. Unless there's luxury canned soups and then I'm missing out
King of Games
there are but they're packaged differently.

I wish we didn't sometimes, they killed almost all our small grocers. But if we have to have them, they might as well give us some good products.
That looks so good

I'm in silicon valley and they campaigned to not let them move in. but we still have Target and I'm not sure conceptually what the difference is.
Target is more expensive, that's the biggest difference I see here. It's seen as upscale.
King of Games
true. clothes at Target are legitimately decent quality. like I've been wearing some Target clothes for years now and they haven't fallen apart
King of Games
I do still have a little metal furniture cart from Walmart that's about 20 years old so it did USED to be decent
King of Games
I used to go to Walmart automotive to get my oil changes but they somehow got more expensive than the local auto shop which is really weird. I think maybe it was just convenience of people doing that while shopping
StupidSexyVโš der
probably when Sam Walton was still alive. he was predatory yeah but did want his brand to be quality for poor people
King of Games
true. I've only been to Sam's club once but that seemed pretty decent. so maybe that's where all the quality stuff went. locked behind the membership fee.
King of Games
there was a year that on Black Friday they opened it up to not needing a membership for that day only. got myself a cheap Xbox 360 and a new TV. cuz I didn't have a Costco membership at the time.
they should both do that again. they'd make bank.
Sam is overall much better than Walmart, where I am.

For real. And with food prices what they are, we gotta do what we can.

exactly, and hey if you get something tasty out of it win win

The potato is so good. It doesn't look nice when it's heating up, but once it's mixed it tastes homemade. I didn't add anything but pepper to it and liked it a lot.
