So here's a fun political billboard from China

if you read it left to right, it says 功成不必在我

meaning "Today's efforts will bear fruit after I'm gone"

but if you read it right to left, it says 我在必不成功

meaning "When I'm in charge, failure is guaranteed"

that's incredible actually

but i can't find proof of it being Shop'd just now. Either way, it's quite funny.

I guess we can only infer intent from which way the text in the lower right goes

The intended direction of text in China (PRC), in modern settings, is always left-to-right. But it's true in more traditional settings, it can be right-to-left.

ok I did another search. It turns out 功成不必在我, 功成必定有我 was a quote by Xi himself. So actually this board is plausible

on a totally unrelated note, this Mongolian page has to use images to display the script which is so not working with the current web format and technology. No wonder Mongolia uses the Cyrillic instead.
