[SOTRP cw: pet injury] I am so glad I went on safety hiatus... but so sad I haven't had the brain to be around for a few days.

Jupe laid an egg Monday and then last night she got uncomfortable and chewed a hole in her stomach.

So I had to pack a TON of cornstarch into it and Lore had the patience of a frigging saint helping me get her into a cone of shame.

So far she's okay, but she chewed through our first four attempts at cones and kept us up until 2 AM

She hasn't done this since the first year she laid an egg .... but at least we knew what to do from last time and didn't have to drive for an hour and wait at the ER vet and get charged an arm and a leg

It was.... really really hard to see her like that and clean it up and tend to it myself though. I still feel sick thinking about how she looked

And I'm paranoid of breaking the wound open when I clean it again when I get home

She spent the night as a birdrito of No though

and she stood for being wrapped and cleaned and tended to really well ... it's the cone that she hates with the fire of a million suns

I am so glad she's doing okay now, and this may sound stupid but seriously, it is great that she has you two to take such good care. You hear a lot about people getting birds but not being prepared to give them the tending they need. You guys are great, though. That sounds like it took so much patience and fortitude

She spent all last night either in my lap or on my shoulder... and now we have egg 2 ... she is filled with determination

Yeah, I'm still really disturbed looking at the wound, I know it's just dried blood but I just freeze up .... and I hate that, I wish my reaction was to act about it, that I could just clean her up without freezing
