Kinda want to grab a beer and hedonistically eat hot dogs out in the gazebo to make up for the fact that I spent the day reading a book that never got good. Spoilers for Koch's The Dinner, I guess.

I'm not sure if it's a cultural disconnect or a bad translation that made the reading an absolute slog through the muck, but finally I've read the terrible thing and can toss its carcus into the recycling bin.

They made a movie out of it. The book is largely rambling tangents that just barely come together in the final few pages to form an ending that's nauseating in its shock value, so it wasn't surprising to see Ebert gave it one and a half stars.
