I have been invited to a Fourth of July party this evening and don't know what to bring. It's an outdoor grill fest that's about forty minutes away. They already have a full menu planned, I'm sure, so I don't want to bring another whole-ass main course. Recommendations?

I'm thinking... caprese salad? With the ingredients in tiny pieces and then skewered on these long toothpicks?

Salads, desserts, and alcohol are always welcome additions

There have been so many good summer drink recipes making the rounds but I'm the only person I know in Maine who can pound back more than just a beer (who is vaccinated).

If everyone just agrees to come to Maine to attend a Biz Rager, I promise to feed the army. Good food, better drinks, and kittens.

I do a salad where I cut a bunch of tomatoes and cucumbers into chunks, dice an onion, toss it all in oil and red wine vinegar and whatever seasonings are at the front of the cabinet and that goes over well at potlucks

but maximum reward for minimum effort: watermelon

pack of cookies from the bakery section of the grocery store, nobody too proud to eat a cheap cookie
