I believe the future of our civilization, all of it not just one continent or another, lies is building a new infrastructure encompassing agriculture, water, energy and housing. Doing so will require dramatic shifts in all of those things amd will not only result in a thriving planet ecologically but a dramatic increase in all 4 of those things overall.

It would also provide a massive amount of jobs while solving the problems we have in those 4 crucial areas.

Call it a green new deal if you want to, but I think that limits the definition of what would result in a radical transformation of this planet in the least amount of time.

In the US alone that could involve, lets say, massive solar energy plants, roadwork and bridge replacements, working with the petroleum industry or without it to transform energy usage to a renewable system. We have the good fortune of needing a bunch of jobs and suddenly having a ton of work to do - at the same time. The path should be clear.

We built dams and a national highway system and municipal projects all over the country with about 1/3 of the people we do now after the depression, and almost half of that population was under 20! Imagine what we could do with the numbers we have now? We could transform the world.
