The transition off the drip just isn't working -- no matter how much insulin they give her with each shot, her blood sugar stays high and her ketones keep going up
So they're going to put her back on the drip, pretty much flood her system with insulin to get her ketones as low as possible, and then send her home tomorrow night or Saturday morning
she's not really in any pain or discomfort right now other than still being stuck at the damn hospital, and I have all her favorite stuff here -- plus I just bought some new toys
yeah, I am still just boggled, given the vet didn't expect her to make it until thanksgiving. But she's still hanging in there, with more good days than bad over all
you can tell when the tumor's bleedingshe doesn't eat much, throws up a fair amount, her breathing's labored, and she doesn't have any energybut it generally only lasts 2-3 days before she's back to a more even keel, and she's never really seemed distressed at all
I've been trying to make that list of her favorite things to do so that 1) we can do them all and 2) I know what to really look for. it's tough though because she's such a sweet but deeply lazy little loaf.
yes, they are. And she hadn't been getting many at the old place because our driveway was hugely long and steep and getting up and down it with my bum knee had gotten almost impossible, so I'm glad I can do that for her again now
