My neighbour shops online a lot. Everyday there is a delivery or two and since she is a teacher, she is not at home during the day. So almost daily I get the delivery drivers, asking me to take it for her. Which is no problem of course. Well..it wasn't. Last week I found out her husband is working from home since months - we never see him.

and because he 'is very busy' he does not answer the door! He knows delivery dudes are there, but just ignores it and let them deliver it to me so she can pick it up in the evening. I sorta got pissed off. So he is home....busy...and I am interrupting zoom meeting with 'sorry guys, someone at the door'.....or stop my work at all

to open the door for shit that is not for me anyway?

My husband is working from home too and for him its also annoying when our doorbell rings, the dogs go beserk etc....for a delivery for someone else?

Anyway, this week I have answered the door and told the delivery guys I will not take the packages. Sorry....try again another day and leave them a note? I feel bad for the delivery drivers, I ve worked in logistics for 25 yrs and know it sucks to have undeliverables due to 'not home, neighbour won't accept'. But hey hoo.

Am I a bad neighbour? Probably, but meh.

And yes, I will tell her when I see her and explain why I didn't take her stuff.

Holiday season is coming, this means even more deliveries - experience...but I will ask her to tell her busy husband to open the fucking door and handle it.

ok not over. There often an option to have your packages delivered at a pick up point, some shop or in our case the gas stations 3 streets away. I do that for xmas or bday presents I dont want my husband to see...lol. She should use that too, I will suggest it.

You're not being a bad neighbor. Just a sane neighbor.

(((Cajsa))) : I think I feel bad for the delivery drivers mostly, it is a drag to do your round and not being able to well...deliver. Because you know the address comes back the next day for a second attempt before it gets in the 'not home' departement.
