Dragons Dragons
So apparently Amazon is delisting a bunch of light novels. Not even just the trashy ones; everything from No Game No Life to wholesome stuff like Bakarina, it's apparently equal fair game.
Dragons Dragons
What the heck.

What the blyat
Zestium Beam!
I wonder if Bookwalker is taking back the licenses
Dragons Dragons
Not sure. Bookwalker already had those titles, and the publishers still sell them through other retailers.
Okapi
Nah, Amazon got into arguments with ln publishers before and took them down randomly. Everything is still up on kobo too
MNK Zoomies
idek man, there's been a lot of places that have been wanting to censor anime lately
MNK Zoomies
and it's not just the actual pervy stuff or so I am told
dead characters
given it's amazon my first guess would be that the publisher dared to demand that they and their authors get paid
Okapi
I've only heard of amazon doing take downs. I know them and Hachette(Yen press) had issues a while back with the amount amazon was discounting their stuff and how much amazon was giving them
Okapi
I can't think of the right word, I want to say royalties
MNK Zoomies
I haven't actually touched an anime in at least over a year now so everything I know I just hearsay
Nadia
I've definitely heard of censorship from amazon and them taking down stuff that has content they don't agree with.
MNK Zoomies
There was some Australian politician that wanted to ban all anime not too long ago. I have no idea how far it actually went, but I would not be surprised if it did inevitably cause some kind of ripple effect
dead characters
come to think of it they do tend to blanket delist if they get complaints about one thing. it's been a problem in the romance novel industry
MNK Zoomies
since that story kinda blew up
dead characters
so if they got complaints about the actually objectionable stuff they might have just pulled everything because it's easier for them, or because an algorithm did it, because haha investigating things or paying people, why do that
Nadia
also good to delist while investigating if they do so. That way if there was an issue they don't risk more problems, if there was no issue they can apologize and put it back up.
MNK Zoomies
I hope that's all it is D:
Pteryx
I know when it comes to anime, some conservatives find it deeply offensive that anything animated might possibly not be appropriate for children. These types tend to have as much of an issue with non-slapstick violence as with the hentai.
Pteryx
Because apparently they want to be free to turn their brains off and not have to check whether something is good for kids if it's animated.
MNK Zoomies
Yeah it's generally the "cartoons are only for kids!" argument, meanwhile anime comes in a whole variety of flavors
MNK Zoomies
and some people cannot comprehend that
