For real, though, DM has this sort of... intangible quality that a lot of the other series lack. Even in a franchise that takes extremely stupid things dead seriously, DM is full throttle "this is a very serious matter that can only be resolved by using cardboard" all the time where even 5D's has moments of lampshading, and... that's charming in a way?

If something takes itself seriously enough despite how stupid it is, it's either going to be really great (Kingdom Hearts) or really dumb (also Kingdom Hearts) and DM pulls it off excellently.

Oh, man.

So, waaaaaay back when, when I first joined DWRP just over two years ago, I was in high school.

High school was...

I can't even say "High school was rough" or whatever because the fact of the matter is that I didn't experience high school like any other teen, especially around that time and later.

I just. Didn't connect. All my IRLs from before were drifting away because of jobs or moving or whatever. DND club at the library effectively dissolved that summer. And I was basically invisible and incapable of making friends.

Then Dorked talked a bit about DWRP on the IF server, and I thought, "Sure. Might as well give it a shot."

And then I met all of you and it's become one of the best decisions of my life.

Being able to write with and geek out with other people who I know are just as big of dorks as I am it's... an indescribable joy?

Being able to slip into this sort of escapism seriously saved me so many times in high school, especially when I had just come off a really rough time. It helped me so much.

That's part of why I want to make a game myself someday, because I want to try and give back to this community that helped me out so much!

Gah. I love this hobby and all of the friends I've made through it so much.

This is also kinda silly, but... especially since I've turned eighteen and engaged more actively with the community on Plurk, seeing everybody talk about smut and kink so openly but also respectfully and making sure it's in a space minors can't see has helped me figure out, move past, and accept a part of my teen years that really sucked for me, but.

This is a sugar plurk, so I'm not talking about that ^^;

Yeah.

I've covered it in more detail before, but the TLDR is that I stumbled into a kink community waaaay younger than I should have, ended up staying there until around my sophomore year of high school before realizing how much it screwed me up, and even since then I've had an extremely weird relationship with my own sexuality and kink.

Seeing y'all being genuinely sex-positive in a not creepy way has helped me untangled a lot of that mess.

God, especially at the joint I order from. Their gluten free crust is genuinely better than their wheat crust.

a lot of gluten-free bread is cash. I worked at a cafe where I'd continually toast a slice of it, chuck an egg on it, and it was the best quick breakfast I'd had, it toasted so crispy

I'm a simple man. Throw a dead pig atop a dead cow atop a pizza and fill the crust with cheese goop and I am a happy camper.
