My dear American friend conducted a quick survey on her friends: "What will your husband say if you say you feel like a potato?" because of me. I said this before and what I got was, "Do you know I like all kinds of potatoes. Especially sweet potatoes and you're my sweet potato." My friend said, "THAT IS THE CORRECT ANSWER TO IT LEMME ASK MY FRIENDS."
The answer that my friend got from her husband was "You can't be a potato because you're not a vegetable."
Obviously, she was not happy with that because she expected at least some nice words of comfort because she is feeling insecure from gaining weight during this lockdown (which is very common).
Then, her survey's results: 3 guys said: "You're still my queen." 2 guys said: "Look nothing like a potato." 2 guys said: "You still look beautiful." 1 guy said: "Shut up, you don't look like it." 1 guy said: "Cute, can you make me baked potatoes for dinner?"
But that's not the end. 1 guy said: "Don't compare yourself with food." 1 guy said: "I still love you." Well, if you don't, though... 1 guy said: "How?" 1 jerk said: "You better not say that because I don't even like potatoes." BLASPHEMY! "Without makeup, you look like a potato."
Then: 1 guy said: "WTF why would you say that?" 1 guy said: "Let's be potatoes together." Awww... 1 guy said: "Potato topato apato." 1 guy said: "Don't compare yourself with a vegetable."
Oh, FYI, my friend is a Korean-American and her husband is too. The jerk that said his wife looks like a potato without makeup is Korean along with the wife. They are living in South Korea. The wife always wears makeup even at home. Harsh, man. Harsh.
Just got a piece of information that my friend got really insecure about herself that she has been limiting her interaction with her eldest childhood friend who is very good looking. She terribly feels like a potato. I wish her husband is a bit better at comforting. Realistic is A-ok, but emphatize, bro.
