[zED]~APS~Animated Prim System
#ADORED
any recommendations on animated slideshow/billboard scripts? I was looking at this one as I saw someone using it at an event once, but I think it might be more complex than I might need?
Allegory
how exactly do you want the images to change? fade transition?
#ADORED
I'd like something as close to an animated video as possible, with multiple options like fades, zoom in/out, pans, wipes. Not sure what the limits for scripting are, but I have seen some nice effects at stores and events. I was able to pull the name of the one above, but other places are either custom scripts or deleted from the prim

i've never used anything like that but i know i've seen places that have done that sort of thing....but i cannot think of where at the moment. fingers crossed someone else has some recommendations for you! that thing does seem like overkill and from the text i wouldn't have really thought it would do that even
#ADORED
yeah I was hoping someone knew of a place/person I could go, it's like a secret or something! I'm still interested in something more simple, like a wipe or fade transition, or even a scroll perhaps. I just like to have options cuz you never can be quite sure what will work/look nice till you try it.

I find the inspo for your gift card cd rack idea tho: Keep your CD's on display and easily accessible.
Allegory
yessss, that's the sort of thing i was thinking about!!

(doing fades ought to be relatively simple...i think? with just two layers and fade the top one in/out....but i've just heard that the new enviro thing is doing some funky things with shadows, so you might want to wait until you can look at an example on a viewer that uses it- official does. with fullbright it prooobably wouldn't be an issue, but might be

worth seeing just in case)
#ADORED
ohh, man I hadn't even really heard about that except in passing, and definitely hadn't played around with it. I'll have to though! I did find one of these scripts being used at a store, I might go with one of these: Second Life Marketplace - Maschinenwerk, Corp. by 6...

the gif to sl script sounds kind of like what I wanted maybe, but less complex than the aps system
Allegory
if that's doing what i think it is, that will make your image fairly small- it's loading a bunch of frames into one image, and SL's max is 1024x1024, so 4 frames = each image is 512x512, and it goes down from there
Allegory
the upside to animated textures is that they are pretty much lag free. downside is that the more frames you have, the tinier each image actually is.

(i'm assuming you want fairly shiny high rez makeup-in-action billboard type things)
