You're Quinner
Sometimes I kinda miss IC Epicmafia games, but I have a strong feeling that I'd get frustrated if I went back there
You're Quinner
on account of role-heavy Mafia is basically a trivially-beaten game for the non-mafia team
You're Quinner
once you know the right tricks
You're Quinner
not always, but damn often
You're Quinner
the second-turn attack of "I'm the cop, [X] is mafia, vote him, kill me tomorrow if it's not true"
You're Quinner
the late-game trump card of "Everyone confirm your roles, whichever we get two of, one of those people is the last mafia"
NekoIncardine
Agreed... I've considered some Epicmafia-like structures, though.
oh i'm scary
Houserules?
oh i'm scary
How about just.
oh i'm scary
"You can't disclaim your role outside of your will or if somebody guesses it?"
oh i'm scary
Disclaim is not the right word there at all, dunno how it got there.
BWAAAAAH!
Disclose
oh i'm scary
Probably yeah.
Rabbit Crimes
Could also go the Town of Salem route - divide roles up into "classes" for Town and Mafia, with similar roles, and not announce SPECIFIC role names and only disclose which classes are present on each side and how many
Rabbit Crimes
Lets the mafia claim to be their townie counterpart and turn the "X can't also be this class, clearly they're mafia!" back on the town
boo(f)
last i saw epicmafia introduced like a shittload of weird roles
boo(f)
which i'm pretty sure only serve to make the game More Obtuse
oh i'm scary
You can get a Pretty Weird Game going on EM, yeah.
Rabbit Crimes
...man now I want to get a bunch of people together for IC Town of Salem
oh i'm scary
I miss IC random dumb shit in general.
Dead Mentors
The trick is to only play dumbasses, obviously. :V
ᴍᴏʙ.
I mean I think the trouble is just playing with different levels of competency people who are newer to it don't know what to do
ᴍᴏʙ.
So people with more experience take hold
ᴍᴏʙ.
I feel like it can work best if you just
ᴍᴏʙ.
Have a bunch of people so it can be a big game and so you can build in ways to make role claiming not efficient
ᴍᴏʙ.
And then just ban public role claiming
ᴍᴏʙ.
Whispers role claiming only
ᴍᴏʙ.
Like role claiming isn't a great strategy except in a small game or near the end of a large one
ᴍᴏʙ.
Anyway I'd love to try and put together a BIG ic mafia game sometime
ᴍᴏʙ.
With like 15 people approx?
ᴍᴏʙ.
I think it would be a lot more fun
ᴍᴏʙ.
And then just set some ground rules
go тo вread
I've played like 10-15 person games of IC EPM.
ᴍᴏʙ.
Yeah so have I its just usually they're smaller
ᴍᴏʙ.
And I think the big ones are much more fun
ᴍᴏʙ.
But it's rare to get such a big group together and not also have that thing where people leave while you're making the game and don't tell you
You're Quinner
yeah bigger groups are usually more interesting
You're Quinner
but also harder to pull together
