Also, (dp because different topic) I may have legitimately gotten the ball rolling on starting an occult library.
Mom and I have been cleaning the house and we boxed up a lot of the occult books from dad's collection that neither of us can see ourselves needing or using and it's like okay, but if these go to the local library, they may be shelved or sold or trashed because they are old.

And I absolutely refused to 'donate' them to Hubbard and his school, because just no Ed, no. He's not a great guy, they'll end up in his personal collection or behind some kind of pay to view wall and that's not what I really want for them
so in discussing it with mom, I had made a 'man I wish the pagan community could just start a library... it'd have to be a non-profit org so the library wasn't owned by any one person that could be all fuck off with it and byeeee, and it'd likely have to be outside of cook county, but also somewhere close to public transit, but yeah...'
Well apparently she talked to her friend who's active in Chicago annnnnnd now a month or so later, there's talk of a 501c being created to do just this. And one of the small pagan press companies loves the idea and wants to help however they can.
also, not me loving people actually picking up the ball because yes I suggested I wish it existed, and I'm more than happy to HELP where I can, but I'm too tired to do it myself. and someone went, I love this and got this, and they're running with it.
it's such a change from the org I'm part of where right now if Mom and I don't do it, it doesn't get done - down to our treasurers aren't even keeping an eye on our paypal and bank accounts well enough because I found fraud charges on the account - and when I brought it up neither of them said, I'll take care of it.
They just went, It wasn't me on accident no.
and so I still had to reach out and at least try to disput it with Paypal...
and then they had the audacity to get uppity with me when paypal said, no everything looks fine here. We're leaving this charge standing. Like it was my fault. It's your job, you fucking do something about it.
so yes, turning back to positive, I'm so excited to see a ball I kind of rolled into the Universe was picked up and poeple are actively discussing doing it as a real live thing.
Because I even was like, look, pending the building - you could have a corner for like local non-brick and mortar stores to potentially rent for a month at a time, so crafty communities can have a pop up store tand their rent of the space can help pay for building stuff. We can have smaller local authors do signings there
pending space size you can even rent out a little of the space for community events.
I have the ideas, and I have the this would be great mind things, I just need people who have evergy to run with it and they are and I love it.
Thank you for listening to me ramble if you got this far. I'm kind of amused and excited it's going somewhere.
