indeed! the suspect is on foot and the shelter-in-place order is for a specific area around the eastern half of Brooklyn Park, a suburb north of Minneapolis. not sure where in MN there will be protests today aside from St. Paul, which is to the east of Minneapolis, but Minnesotans should be careful nonetheless
in other news: there is circulation on MAGA social media accounts that there were "NO KINGS" signs in the cop car the assassin left behind. MAGA is really trying to false flag the movement
This is my list: (keep in mind I am in California San Francisco proper) 1. Tape on your shoes to keep them tied 2. Face covering. 3. If you have visible tattoos cover them. 4. I am bringing my respirator, it will stay in my bag unless things get spicey (this is based on my location.) 5. If you aren’t going but have friends that are consider being their
while law enforcement vehicles can be sold to civilians on the used car market, they will have most of the special equipment (lights, computers, front guard, etc) already removed. about the only thing that will stay in there is like... the driver-side spotlight and the interior ceiling light.
If a cop starts to touch you or hit you go limp and take it.... it’s shitty but it could save your life and as fucked up as it sounds better optics for us
I do however think today will stay peaceful I want to say again a lot of this is because of my personal location state and city wise
IMPORTANT CALLOUT FROM ABSENTEE COMOD do not put any information about your own activities, including images, sign text (good text tho), even saying that you are going! This is a public plurk and you should assume it is being monitored by US law enforcement
Anyone who attends a protest today is exercising their constitutional rights to speech and assembly! And also.............. US police have shown ever increasing disregard for due process and constitutional rights.
yeah. if there really were No Kings flyers found in the suspect's vehicle it's far more likely that the suspect wants to target protestors, not that they are aligned with the protestors
I get a regular newsletter from an indie news publication in the state, the Minnesota Reformer, and today's issue said, "Please note: The State Patrol is advising Minnesotans not to attend the “No Kings” rally at the Capitol because the suspect is still out there. They found a pile of “No Kings” fliers in the suspect’s car."
so while maga is trying to spin that as meaning the killer is a liberal that's actually really chilling bc it sounds like he was intending to target protests next
I'm going to be on the lookout for a source on the internet about the flyers, since all I can do with the newsletter is maybe screencap my email inbox and blot out my email address
“We have no understanding that any of the No Kings events would be targeted. But we also find it of interest to the public that these (fliers) would be in there, and we want to alert everybody,” Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans said at a late-morning news conference.
Evans said officials investigating the shootings recovered “a list of individuals, and the individuals that were targeted in this situation were on that list.” Evans said that list contained “a large number of people.”
just got home from my local protest. all went well, nice and peaceful with a really good turn out. there were minimal counter protesters but one of them was weirdly evangelical and kept playing evangelical music trying to drown things out.
apparently someone in a neighborhood nearby called in a noise complaint on the local protest earlier but nothing was done about it. had a good number of seniors turning out for it!
Pretty dang good considering it was one of two dozen protests in the Greater Los Angeles area, including the big one in DTLA. The main LA protest drew 25,000 to 30,000 people.
only goes to 11
: fuck them. there was nothing going on. also, MSNBC reporter was there when they started: there was no declaration about it being an unlawful protest
No doubt, just a heads up to anyone waiting to hear from LA friends it is a good time to check in with them. LAPD is only going to get nastier once curfew hours start.
Canadian news outlet, they identified the suspect in the assassinations and (shocker /s) he's a registered republican as recently as 2022 https://globalnews.ca/...
Apparently, in Boston, there were over a million people at the protest. People trying to start trouble would have found themselves with problems, very quickly, I'd imagine.
but maybe the protest organizations have gotten wise enough to it that if someone starts being disruptive the actual protesters make it very clearly a "we're not with that guy" thing? idunno
I mean yeah it would have gone bad for them, but people trying to incite riots to undermine protests against fascism usually aren't super all-in on caution and forethought
Yeah, seen pictures of the "crowds" for that being one person thick along the path. Have also heard that there were very few troops at the military parade, with it being mostly a chronological display of tech.
as a military brat, I assure you that army is trained to march in ranks IN STEP that's what they would do all the time on base while calling out jodies
Considering Trump is not paying the national guard he deployed in Los Angeles, even the more Republican leaning military people must realize he's a jackass who thinks they're all suckers.
no "we take pride in our discipline" vibes, 100% "eh i was told to be here but it's a real shit party, maybe i'll get a burger after this is over" vibes
my ex-military mom told me this "That's their way of expressing disagreement, and their commanding officers also disagree with Trump because they allowed it to happen."
as someone else i was watching pointed out, being ordered to 'keep the peace' in other countries is one thing. Being told to do that here is a whole other beast. People can find out where they live
only goes to 11
: more importantly than the not getting paid, because military is used to furloughs and the like so not immediately getting paid is actually more common than you'd think but MORE IMPORTANTLY
i've seen a video of a solider who was sitting in a shed looking like he wanted to cry, staring his phone and the text on the video said something like "you joined the military to help your parents get their papers only to find out they got deported to Mexico."
reminder that acc to military news sites, when you see trump rallying the army and they're saying "boooo!" and cheering on his command...it's because he specifically picked goons that support and are loyal to him
honestly up there with the...i think this was also the military, actually. the group of people who sang 'can you hear the people sing' in the White House

7. Remember there will be right wing adjetators in some cities do not engage. Some of them might be a cop.
8. If I a cop tries to talk to you do not say anything but lawyer / am I being detained or am I free to leave.
I do however think today will stay peaceful I want to say again a lot of this is because of my personal location state and city wise
Someone's offer of a phone lock screen, if you must bring a phone instead of leaving your treacherous tracking device at home.
Live updates: No Kings protests cancelled in Minnesota after lawmaker assassination
or cops that are not impersonators
