played my finals draft match finally, had a good time and it was fun for everybody involved but man I lost the last game in such a silly way! im not chocked up about losing but it always feel bad to have it be because of a very avoidable mistake

lapras was setting up in front of me, and I had a badly timed toxic miss. I trusted that she would get greedy and went for a slow encore right after, and got it, locking her into ddance. I had two correct plays here; I could've gone to azelf and exploded, or gone to ampharos and thunderbolted, both wouldve killed

Instead, I saw that the pokemon that could stop shell smash blastoise on her team were fainted, and got hasty and went to blastoise to use the opportunity to set up... used shell smash... and realized I had already used my tera earlier in the game, I didn't have tera blast grass (which I brought specifically for lapras!), and I couldn't kill

And then it was too late. If I had realized before using shell smash, I would've had one more turn of encore to make another switch, but at that point it was over. even azelf's intact sash couldn't save me because of icicle spear. really unfortunate way to get swept

I had developed such a commanding lead that game too. after a couple of bad games my goaty hyperoffense team was working perfectly then bam

my nicknames were gas though (mega amph is ampharos-megadeth)
