I don't know what it is with that site in particular but it's almost as common as classified info getting leaked on War Thunder forums

Today's example was encouraging people to donate to Gaza by wiring money to a third party in a country still able to do business in the region, and have them then wire those funds to Gaza.

For the love of all that is holy, do not do that, that will ping so many different alphabet agencies with the government

Giving aid is good, but don't do it in a way that makes it look like you're trying to dodge sanctions

GoFundMe is able to host fundraisers because they have lawyers working for them to make damn sure they avoid that kind of attention. You personally wiring money from your bank account to somebody else? You probably do not have a team of lawyers to make sure you avoid the pain.

And that's just the legal consequences, on the financial side your bank can absolutely freeze all your accounts for an investigation (and no you will not be able to just open a new account somewhere else if they do)

Without exaggeration, even being indicted for this is life-ruining amounts of harm, you do not want that kind of attention.

Especially since look who's in charge of the government right now

(can't speak to any legal risk outside the US, but I strongly encourage anyone contemplating something like this to look into it before acting. Know what risk you're taking beforehand, you can't help anyone if you're locked up)

(if it's a risk you're fine with taking, by all means, but do not do what these people are doing and just mass suggesting people do something like this without saying what the danger is. This is "getting slapped with big boy felonies" danger.)

Not to mention the current government position that all aid is being stolen by Hamas (note: the government's position, not mine), which is still listed as a terrorist organization, that means you're also inviting a charge for providing material aid to a terrorist organization. Because they'll 100% argue that's what you were doing.

(again, something that can be largely avoided with things like GoFundMe or trusted NGOs)

If you're making multiple transfers to the same place and you're staying under the reporting amount each time, that literally invites extra scrutiny.
