[No such thing as ethical consumerism, temu] I have a moral quandry. In the viking community there is a lot of people who make and sell stuff at markets. And I know of some that source parts from temu and encourage others to do the same.
Craftyviking
temu uses slavel abour.

I want to say something about this to these people (who i consider friends) but I also know that for some this is their income stream.

So my quandry is do I talk to them about it, do I just ignore it and just chose not to buy from them?
SPOILER ALERT
idk if it's the RIGHT thing to do, but I would be honest with them. I didn't know that temu uses slave labour, and they might not either
SPOILER ALERT
how would they feel if they found out much later from someone else? idk, maybe that would be easier, maybe it would be worse

tbh I didn't know they used slave labor. I just despise temu because they products they sell are of dubious quality and rarely work right.

I'd just be upfront and honest in case they didn't know, and if you know of any alternative outlets for them to utilize, suggest them.

"Hey, I just learned this, you mentioned that you bought from them so just in case you didn't know, too-" like, if it's possible for you, put yourself in the same boat and saying it should be fine

Agreed with all of this. I basically stopped my etsy shop becuase there was no way to charge enough to make it worth it, which sucks if it's a major revenue stream for them. But I always feel like we need to be making these choices mindfully. If they still choose to use those products, they've chosen and YOU can then make a choice not to buy them.
