I miss when it was fashionable for married couples to have different bedrooms
like I didn't move out of my parent's house so that I couldn't have my own room thanks

for most of my life one of the main reasons I didn't want to get married was bc I thought I'd have to share a room – and worse, a bed – with someone
not as an ace thing just as an "I've had to share beds with ppl before, it was Unpleasant and I don't want to sign up for that for the rest of my life" thing

I need my space
I still don't want to get married but I think ppl should popularize having their own rooms and still loving each other very much

like what if you have a fight
I know the traditional thing to do is force someone to sleep on the couch but wouldn't it be so much better if you could just both retreat back to your own spaces and get a good night's sleep so you can both feel better in the morning?

if you share a bed with someone and they get sick there's no escaping getting sick too
wouldn't it be better for your spouse to intentionally wait on you and risk contamination than to have no choice? isn't that like more romantic or smth?

What if you have to get up at different times? somebody moving about getting ready to go in your room while you're sleeping isn't a very restful environment

and you could always have sleepovers when you wanted to
and then you could decorate your rooms respectively the way you liked them instead of having to compromise

I just feel like Abraham and Mary Lincoln were onto smth when they both had their own rooms in the white house
that seems reasonable and convenient
