Because of (((Cajsa))) I binged my first season (2017) of The Great British BakeOff. My thoughts are all over the place, I enjoyed it a lot, for just watching something light hearted...

1. not to be rude, but I have never seen a cooking competition where the contestants were so basic, as in the only cooking/baking shows I have seen so far have always been, you would not even get in the door with many of the items presented by the contestants

2. They were all so healthy and kind and supportive, and I am used to people becoming really close, but this one is also unusual in the way that they seem to go home? as in do two days, go home for a week, come back vs seeming to be locked down on location for weeks and going stir crazy and missing family and getting so dramatic

3. The judging was bizarre in some ways, sometimes the person that only did well in one of the three things got star baker, it was a bit weird, but again really kind of kind and nice and BRITISH lol

4. LOVE all the Judges and Noel and Sandy, love Sandy and Noel from QI her now being the host of QI and so intelligent, but I had only ever seen Noel as a guest, he is damn adorable. Prue I believe we have had here in our shows in the past, and Paul I like since I watched him travel the U.S lol

It’s a great relaxing show to watch

and during that time at home they get to practice everything but the technical challenge item. I love that when possible the contestants help each other.

❅Tina/Dreama ❅ : yeah, its good to practice, I am just used to them all being in the same location during the whole season, so they would have studios to practice in like Masterchef Australia

One of my favorite things living in the uk is how they excel at accepting every day life as something interesting and valuable. They are so down to earth and I love it.
(((Cajsa)))
They did something similar here in the US but it fell into many of of America 's reality show tropes probably because it was for money and big money rather than a cake plate
(((Cajsa)))
I mean some of the British bake off people do profit from it. they get a cookbook contract or two or three and launch a catering or bakery business and so they make money off of competing but there's no guarantees unlike us. reality shows where $100,000 is a small prize
