AZULA

3: I mean she was as she is now from pretty early on, to varying degrees. She quickly learned that Dad's approval was harder to come by than Mom's and far more valuable, and she immediately began emulating him to seek it- and she excelled at it.
Yon Fellow
Arguably the real "phase" was the change from the end of canon to where I play her from or even to where she is in the latest solo comic.
Yon Fellow
11: YOU CAN'T DO THIS. YOU CAN'T TREAT ME LIKE ZUKO.
Yon Fellow
19: Cause problems, and cause problems /shot.

In all seriousness, there is actually a dire lack of fun in her life. She occasionally does things that are supposed to be fun, tries to win at them, and is mystified why it doesn't work before writing it off as a stupid waste of time.
Yon Fellow
A big part of what made her soften up to Shealtiel so much is the fact that they genuinely do have fun together and it's actually quite novel for her

ALADDIN

4: Oh, man. He's gone back and forth on the theft thing a few times, but he almost always centers on "It's only okay to steal the bare minimum he needs to survive." The bigger shift was once he was an adult and his whole relationship with lying about himself versus knowing he was worthy during the original movie.
Yon Fellow
8: I mean, everybody he stole from and all the law enforcement.
Yon Fellow
19: He was always extremely fun, and his playfulness turned stealing food in order to eat from "A soul-crushing exercise in feeling unworthy" into "An entertaining way to stay sane"

I think that playfulness is the only reason he stayed kind and upbeat instead of becoming a bitter cynic.
Yon Fellow
It's also why it comes out so often during fights.

WESLEY

1: I feel like he never had a period of regrettable fashion in his childhood because once he was old enough to have clothing opinions he was always wearing the academic uniform of his education or the formal attire his father upbringing demanded.

He did unironically wear leather pants after he got fired, though, so like
Yon Fellow
15: He likes the arts! I think he knows and appreciates the "Classics" thanks to his education, but he had a soft spot for contemporary entertainment as well- it's canon that he likes Cat Stevens, Queen, and Gallagher, so I think there's an element of quiet rebellion against his father in his embrace of common vulgar entertainment.
Yon Fellow
19: He seems like somebody who read for escapism when he was a kid, probably very socially isolated even among the fellow British Upper Crust and later the fellow Baby Watchers.

He's kinda grim now. Fun mostly comes from other people dragging it out of him.

Oh, sorry, I got the wrong number for Al because I was on mobile; I meant 7, not 8. Gimme Amal feels :V
Yon Fellow
OH I SEE.
Yon Fellow
ALADDIN

7: Yes, his first childhood friend was Amal. Amal was a fellow orphan on the streets of Agrabah, so he and Al stuck together for a while. Amal was a lot more bitter and angry about the injustice of their situation than Al was, and he was more willing to steal things he didn't need; it led to some disagreements between the two of them.
Yon Fellow
It's not what drove them apart, though. No, homeboy got abducted by extradimensional gremlins and turned into one of them.

Yon Fellow
He later refused to kill Aladdin because he remembered him, and rediscovering that humanity freed him and let him slowly begin turning human again.
Yon Fellow
AND THEN WE NEVER SAW HIM AGAIN WHICH IS LAME WHACK GARBAGE.

CLEARLY YOU NEED TO TORMENT AL WITH A VISION OF HIM AT SOME POINT (because no way is anyone apping him to Lab)
