Stereo Nacht
I napped yesterday, so I didn't sleep much last night, so I had a surprise nap this afternoon. And now, I just was given a cooking task for tomorrow, but I picked something that pretty much gets done all by itself: onion soup (sans gratin, cause the person we visit has some level of lactose intolerance).
Stereo Nacht
My multi-task cooking robot only requires me to cut the onion in halves (I do quarters, just to be sure), then add the other ingredients when prompted. I'll do two batches to be sure, and put them in jars, then once the jars have cooled, they go in the cooler overnight.
Stereo Nacht
So... I'll have about 30 minutes of work for the two batches, including transferring the stuff in the jars. Only thing is: my big cooler has spent nearly a year outside, and required some serious cleaning. But that's done already.
Stereo Nacht
Now: waiting till the onions are cooked, then I'll be adding the broth, and wait some more. Play time? Play time. I hope you are all having a great day!

that sounds like a great 'make-ahead' dinner

Is it beef stock? Please tell me it’s beef stock. 🤤
Stereo Nacht
Of course it is beef stock. The first time, I followed the recipe and used chicken stock, and it just didn't taste right. Since then, I've been using beef stock. (Although I am half-tempted to try mushroom broth next time; it should have a similar level of umami as beef.
Stereo Nacht
(I use store-bought broth, with reduced level of salt. I don't cook beef often enough to have my own stock, pun intended. ;-) )

Stereo Nacht : I'm going to try a veg version with mushroom stock. You're right, chicken (or fake chicken) is too light for a proper onion soup
