I wish I could figure out if I'm unhappy at my job because this place is a mess or if this is just how most jobs run and I'm delusional that most people don't feel clueless about what they're doing every day of work.
Everyone seems to think this is normal around here. We all struggle to understand the work we're given.
I'm not even that upset. I just sometimes wonder if I had it too good before where my last job I could walk in every day and have at least a decent understanding of what was expected of me.
Granted I was at my old job for 6+ years. So of course I was more comfortable there. I just would have thought that 1.5 years in this role I wouldn't keep getting tripped up so much.
Every time I think I might finally have a handle on things I get asked: what about this thing you didn't know you were supposed to be doing? And the feeling starts again.
Maybe others are just better at hiding their frustration at being given stuff to do that we don't really know how to handle. As I keep trying to put out little feelers of who would give me a good reference without giving away I'm looking for new work and everyone else just seem so content
I try to hide it, but I am a ball of anxiety and you'll likely be surprised that I tend to have 30 back up plans for nearly every scenario. Even for things that don't need a back up plan.
So the fact that I can't form any sort of consistency plan for when things go wrong as I don't know what I'm doing at the start is not helping. OVER PLANNING FOR DUMB SCENARIOS IS MY COPING MECHANISM. Give it back to meeeeeee
