side note: if i get into peacock, definitely make sure i keep a running list of "slots" for threads, especially logs, so i don't run into the issue of biting off more than i can chew

I did institute a soft policy of dropping threads after a certain amount of time that weren't finishing up (unless they were particularly development heavy)
