I unfortunately went to Charlotte Christian School for indoctrination and re-education. It did not take, but we were also singled out for being to poor.

That lily white elitism is why I stopped going to church or private school there. South Charlotte at that time was exploding with money and growth and the infrastructure never caught up. My HS was 2400+ kids in the graduating class, mostly white, suburban, upper middle class kids with too much money and nothing to do, nowhere to go.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg public school system was completely unprepared for the growth of that many kids from everywhere else. Aside from the forced segregation and being 47th in the nation at the time, many of the teachers were still basically angry, older, white southerners that feared and hated change.

Max Graf : I went to elementary school in Charlotte, but moved before Jr. High/High School.

Teeg : Elementary is when I entered their system also. It was really weird looking back on riding that bus across town for an hour to be the only white kid in my school. When we moved from NJ they I tested at 7th but they made me sit in 4th grade because of my age. The northern schools were a lot different, even then.

I don't remember a single negative or racial incident, tbh. I do remember wondering why the hell it was so hot and they did not turn on the AC.
