Saturday I got a bunch of packages delivered. earlier in the week I panic ordered two bags of litter (25lb ea) not realizing that one was already ordered. all three got delivered on the same day, along with a case of cat food and some deodorant and Tylenol.
Sunday, my helper guy came over. I gave him a package locker code and warned him about all the heavy stuff, he said no problem, he would make two trips.
note: a "feature" of our package locker system is that if you put in one code, it will sequentially open the lockers for every package waiting for you. no selectively picking up one small package and leaving the heavier ones for later. so only one code is needed.
Monday night, I went looking for the case of cat food delivered. it's nowhere to be found. in looking, I noticed there was only one bag of litter. putting two and two together, it becomes clear that some of my package deliveries didn't make it into the lockers...
troubleshooting pointed to a dead CPU, so I kicked off RMA proceedings. repacking it was a combination scavenger hunt and bar puzzle, then today (yesterday, aka Wednesday) I got a ride to the store to drop it off - they do Amazon returns at Petco now!
Along with Target shopping. I needed to pick up a refill at the pharmacy inside, then my ride and I did our usual loop of departments of interest. (I also picked up more cat food and a pink gift bag to put manly presents in).
But then, while we were out, I got a phone call about the availability of toilet repair services, to which I said I'd be home by 3. I got home a little after 2, and set about washing dishes and scrubbing the toilet.
I rested for about a half an hour after cleaning, then hung out and observed repair work. rested for another half an hour or so, then set about putting in the new CPU+cooler. I was already pretty shot by that point but the anxiety over whether I had diagnosed the right issue was gnawing at me.
standing while leaning forward, particularly when struggling to reach or manipulate a specific piece (aka plugging in a fan connector into a tight space) is awkward and poor ergonomics.
I was trying really hard to do the work without pulling the whole thing out of the case. as it was, the graphics card and its support bracket had already been yanked to take out the old parts. but leaving it in the case led to other challenges.
got everything in place, plugs plugged and screws screwed. I put the GPU and bracket back in only to realize I'd pinned its power cable underneath it - yank, rearrange, redo - and... moment of truth. flip that switch.
I still have other stuff that has not gotten done. I have to call back to schedule an ultrasound, then I have to cancel/reschedule the follow up appointment to discuss the results of the ultrasound. (if they try and schedule it before the end of the year I'm going to tell them to suck eggs)
I have to get labs, but I have to time that specifically in between doses of my every-other-week medication. again, not happening during the holiday gauntlet.
Oh, and all the cat food buying is due to the old lady being extra picky and turning her nose up at the usual flavors. she decided she liked one I brought home today, ate an entire bowl in short order and demanded a second can.
that whole mess is attached to a pair of brackets by two screws, and each of the brackets has two screws. which means those screws are how all the weight of this hangs off the motherboard when the tower is stood up.
systematicallyhaphazardly chipping away at this pile of stresses. the pile is getting smaller, but I'm feeling the effort take a toll.
