this is going to be an incredibly pathetic sounding vent plurk but just going in I cannot emphasize enough how much I do not want any kind of anger on my behalf or towards the idea of People Being Like This or anything
yes I think this was objectively not very kind behavior. no I don't like antis. no this is not a plurk about "fuck antis" and if it becomes that I WILL get exponentially more upset
anyway when I follow/interact with English speakers on twitter I usually do pretty rigorously check their carrds and so on for their dnis. when I'm really on top of my game I'll check even before just liking or rting a singular tweet
but I obviously do not have the habit ingrained for foreign artists whatsoever bc the majority of them don't give a shit. but recently I followed an eng speaking artist and 1. my braincells have been decimated by mhyk 2. a sorting error occurred where my brain just went "artist. follow" instead of "eng speaker. check carrd"
so today they tweeted "unfriendly reminder to get off my account if you're proship or like problematic content etc" so I unfollowed them. and now I'm just like. vibrating like a chihuahua like THEY'LL SEE THEIR FOLLOWER COUNT GO DOWN THEY'LL KNOW THAT SOMEONE UPSETTING TO THEM TOUCHED THEIR STUFF
I ALSO... HAVE SOME MUTUALS WHO FOLLOW THEM...... AND NOW I'M LIKE ,,,,,, DOES THIS MEAN THESE PEOPLE POSSIBLY ALSO WOULD NOT BE OK WITH THE THINGS I LIKE OR
genuinely I just want to avoid making anyone upset if at all possible I'm not even like "oh no what if I get harassed" I am fully just like "I regret that my existence may have caused someone to be uncomfortable and unhappy" to the point of physical pain
the most logical explanation ime is "those people don't read/didn't care/the person in question's posts dont reach their TL very often" or otherwise don't really consider themselves on one side of the issue or the other/don't like specific things but are neutral on everything else

oh a mutual is complaining on priv about it and pointed out that the fact they had a strong stance on proship/anti stuff was literally not on their carrd or anything
i was going to +1 celi like - i feel like the purpose of such tweets are at least to some degree meant to be productive so like 'ok the follower count went down, people heeded my warning' i feel like is mmmmore likely the like... emotional response... but also
in some ways this is even more terrifying bc it means there are now people comfortable enough with this expectation that they think it should automatically be followed without being stated and therefore I could be inflicting myself on any number of people who actually secretly do give a shit and I am not aware of it
I know there are antis in every series but it really does keep slipping my mind and tripping me up in mhyk because mhyk is so SO into being like "we are going to shove as many labels under one relationship as possible. therefore these two characters are teacher and student, parent and child, and also kissing, simultaneously"
the fact that they didn't have it written anywhere is also comforting because it means their follower count is going to go down by a lot more than one. I am not the only one who trespassed into these forbidden lands
