I dislike Moen faucets at times.

I need to get a special tool now to remove the insert in order to even look at the model number to then get the right replacement.

If you zoom in, you see the notches that the tool uses to remove the ring holding the insert.

That there is actual brass in there, even though it is also a plastic valve in there, is indicative of the fact that it is at least a Moen. If it were Price Pfister or one of those crap brands, it would all be plastic and you would not be able to get a part for it, but have to replace it all.

Max Graf
: exactly, I have had Price Pfister faucets before, almost easier to replace the whole thing.

ChefKarl
I might get lucky and it is just an o-ring vs. the whole cartridge that needs to be replaced.

you should be able to get both at sLowes or Home Despot.

They also have the little tool you use to get that stem out.

(you can also take a similar size of any kind of tube and cut notches out of the sides to make one)

If you drill a hole through the top you can slide a dowel or something through it to make a T handle to turn it.

: thanks, I have seen this tool and now looking to get one at Ace later in the week. I like the idea of modifying to add the T-handle.

Moens are one of the best quality faucets. (Dad was a plumber and I worked in his office for almost 15 years on and off). He installed mostly Moens, occasionally an American Standard/PP depending upon the customer.

: I agree. they're top quality, just annoying having to get a new special tool to maintain it.

Hey how did your mower batteries hold out this summer? I noticed a drop in capacity of about 10% this year. Stoopid acid batteries.
![](https://avatars.plurk.com/5201329-medium6.gif)

I need to swap them for lithium.

: my mower is a manual push style and my personal battery is always an issue.

: So far the batteries in my Ryobi seem to be more than I need for our one acre yard. We may be moving to a different house soon with a much larger yard though, so I'll be curious to see how well I do mowing over there.
