Just some little oks #cat #cats #catvideos #cutecat ...

Well, today was vet day. Chives had blood drawn for glucose testing, and of course hated that. Alas, his glucose numbers are up, so it's back on the insulin for him, at a small 2-unit dose twice a day. It was fun while the remission lasted! But, here's OK Cat to remind us all that everything will be OK. OK! (I love OK cat.)

Corgi
Better than human diabetes, at least!

Corgi
: I have no experience with human diabetes... but I'm now a seasoned pro at the feline version. Still, we were hoping for a longer remission.

Maudeline
Awww

Corgi
Human diabetes never remits, for one. It can be fairly well controlled, after proper diagnosis and eternal medication and/or diet diligence. This presumes one has access to a doctor, etc.

Ceejay Writer
Okay, fine, feline diabetes is better than human. You have to excuse me - you're totally right and I appreciate the information, but right now I'm wanting to throw stuff at walls. It'll be another $435 total to re-balance him, with blood testing every three weeks.

Ceejay Writer
He HATES having blood drawn, so they sent us home with a sedative to use before the next visit. I understand, but still. Unlike humans, we can't explain to him why we're doing all sorts of painful stuff to him and limiting his food.

Ceejay Writer
The cost of his illness so far has been enough that I'll be delaying getting a car till spring, and I was quite looking forward to doing that earlier.

Ceejay Writer
And we're back to being unable to be out at night or go anywhere other than short trips during the day. Since a cat can't manage itself, the humans get tethered to him.

Ceejay Writer
I'm just venting now - I'm like a kid that wants to shout It's Not Fair!

Corgi
Oh, no.
You're right, it's not fair, and I wish it had 'stuck' better. I quite understand the tether situation, though.

Corgi
: Thanks, and you're awesome for putting up with my vent. Thing is, if he goes into another remission, we get a few months of carefree life and then another round of re-starting, re-balancing.... I don't place money above his health, and I'll always do whatever he needs, but wow... I'm not a Rockefeller.

Corgi
Please vent whenever needed. I went through much the same with my dogs with cancer, after all, with a less optimistic outcome.

Ceejay Writer
Corgi
: I can't even imagine caring for a pet with cancer. You're a good dogmom.

Foggy
I am so sorry about that! All the gentle pets to Chives. Glad he found such awesome people to care for him.

Ceejay Writer
Foggy
: I dunno about awesome.... gullible to furry charms, perhaps! Chives sends hellos and loves!

Corgi
Sometimes I doubt that, but thank you.

Ceejay Writer
Corgi
: I have zero doubts! Your passion for dogs burns brightly.
