BUILDING A PC FOR MYSELF. The recruitment bonus for work came in. If you have advice, feel free to dump it here. I'm gonna start researching this weekend.

Comic
there's a wide variety of possibilities, are you starting from scratch? what's the budget? what's the goal?

Comic
budget friendly option are going to be AMD processors and graphics cards though

Comic
nvidia/intel are beefy but they don't have the explicit lead in quality but they have a definite lead in being the pricier options

Comic
https://pcpartpicker.com/ is a good site to select the parts you're wanting to put together and it can tell you if it knows there's an incompatibility or if you're missing something you need

Comic
I literally just bought a bunch of parts for a pc that I haven't put together yet, also the pc building megathread on SA can be very helpful too

ARCHlVlSTE
SSD. always an SSD.

Comic
oh, yes, SSD have come down in price a lot and have less failure and higher responsiveness, only get a HDD if you're looking for large cheap storage. most new motherboards also have M.2 slots which is an even fancier new kind of SSD

Comic
: $1000 is the budget. I'm getting back into 3D modeling and larger illustration projects and maaaybe some softer gaming like Rimworld and Sims 4. Limiting myself to one monitor.

I'd prefer to build myself just because updating my pre-builts is impossible.
