Make sure your Synology NAS is running DSM 5.0 or later. Starting from DSM 5.0, the access permissions of shared folders are based on Windows ACL by default.
Newly created shared folders implement the permission settings of Windows ACL, which also allows for customizing the permissions of individual files and subfolders. Permissions can also be customized via File Station or File Explorer in Windows.
Today it was determined that the connection method of the remote CIFS/SMB server can avoid the Windows ACL permission infection problem caused by QNAP RTRR synchronization, but the synchronization performance is not good. This can only be regarded as a workaround, not a solution.
It is not recommended to use the RTRR function for QNAP NAS data synchronization in different Windows AD environments. Please use a CIFS/SMB account to mount the remote data folders instead.
