[horror] god I can't believe The Blob (1988) was another The Thing situation

a remake of a classic horror movie with a strong cast and new spins on the formula

amazing practical effects, good music choice

the producer of the 1959 film apparently liked it so much he gave them the rights free of charge

and on a budget of 10 million it grossed only 8

god the blob and the thing were treated so shittily by audiences at the time it hurts

(off topic but i'm also on the wikipedia page for the blob and i am... v amused that the see also links are "the crazies" "the thing" and "the stuff")

boy this cinematic universe takes some turns
