Does anyone here have expereince with electroconvulsive therapy, secondhand anecdotal or otherwise

My psychiatrist has recommended it

It looks like memory loss / severe impairment in memory formation is really common and if I lose one nanosecond of memory I'm going to jump off of a bridge
