Well the other thing is it came at a rough time, and I think it's his girlfriend who did the research? Six years and this was the first time there's ever been that kind of problem, and I'm usually one of the people who gives him the biggest praises for works of his I like.
Also a lot of websites are cracking down on his art/business so anything going wrong makes him want to curl up in a ball and cry. Artists are an emotional bunch, and often pour their heart and soul into their works.
I can see how a negative shock in that situation could get someone into kind of a panic spiral where they're not... really thinking about what they're reacting to anymore
