god i've been watching so many tiktoks totally trashing jkr's worldbuilding and characters and like no offense to my people who still vibe with hp or whatever but man
and i love how many of them end with "unlike uncle rick!" lmao so i never actually read percy jackson cause i read the first one and at the time i was like "hmm i feel like i missed the train for this" but the more i hear the more i think i'd vibe with it
like there's a lot of shit that i caught even back when i first read hp that i forgave because i loved the series as a whole but so many characters either completely suck or are just such missed opportunities because jkr cannot write well rounded out, multifacetted characters
and ron is... ron... how the fuck did he and hermione hook up?? girl could've done so much better, and i never got any romance vibes between them at all
draco could've been way more interesting if they hadnt spent the first five books just making him an idiot bully. in the 6th its like "WOW he's kind of sympathetic and has a tough role to fill, feel bad for him!"
i also have a friend whose brother is really good friends with dan radcliffe and she tells me some thing about him but that's about as far as me being involved with the fandom anymore
i think they knew. like why the fans loved hp and how that world was meant to be open and inviting for kids trying to find themselves so to have that betrayal was huge (of course like you said there are other reasons to not like it)
yea i know a lot of people who simply never vibed with the story but to someone who grew up loving it, and god, her fans that are trans?? like that has to fucking hurt.
in the long run its not a huge thing but i cant help but be disappointed i never got to go to the universal studios attraction before she turned into a massive cunt
the core difference between JKR and uncle Rick is that Rick has consistently tried to do better. Fans complained about diversity? his next series included a far more ranged cast. he's gotten sensitivity readers and recently cowrote with a queer author it makes sure things weren't trending towards harmful stereotypes.
He and his wife are very vocal in their support of communities, and while they are in a position as producers on the D+ show, they are highlighting the SAG-AFTRA/WGA strike and using their platforms as support for it where they can. They just...try, and that makes a word of difference.
not getting into the rest of it because I don't have anything else to say, but if you did still want to see the universal park stuff, it's not as if they charge separately for it vs the rest of the park. It might still feel tarnished but it's not as if you're paying for the hp world specifically

: yea see he just seems like a real cool dude, everything i hear about him is stuff like this that just makes me like him more. my sister loves his stuff so maybe i'll borrow her books one day.
i also have a friend whose brother is really good friends with dan radcliffe and she tells me some thing about him but that's about as far as me being involved with the fandom anymoreyou dont have to pay for rides
