1. How aware is your character of their thought processes? Do they think about why they do what they do (however accurately)? Do they care about self-analysis? He was always self aware to an extent, in that he was comfortable with what his strengths and weaknesses were and good at letting a team complement them. He thinks it's important to know
shobogan
exactly what you're capable of and what you struggle with, so that you don't endanger other people. However
shobogan
He thought he was humble and grounded compared to all the wizards around him and BOY was he wrong. He was just as if not more arrogant, it just manifested differently.
shobogan
But he does know that now! Thanks Asmodeus, you should charge - oh wait yeah you definitely did
shobogan
7. Does your character overcompensate for anything? His saviour complex got exponentially bigger once he failed to save his husband or be there for his son.
shobogan
Causing the apocalypse isn't gonna make it smaller

22 for Babs, please
shobogan
12. What sorts of things does your character use to evaluate someone they've just met—clothes, looks, attitude? Is there anything (besides bad behavior) that will give them a kneejerk dislike of a stranger? A kneejerk affection? Attitude is what he hones in on the most; clothing can give useful context but mostly in understanding where a person is
shobogan
coming from. (...Moreso at home than somewhere like the Barge.) He's not a detective but overall he's pretty good at reading people (proficient in Insight!) both because it's part of his job and because he just Cares A Lot
shobogan
and he's pretty much always drawn in by vulnerability and kindness. Which yeah, burned him very badly less than a month ago, but he's far too stubborn for that to matter.
shobogan
He tries to actively avoid kneejerk dislike but there's a certain kind of pompous condescension that will raise his hackles immediately
shobogan
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕 22. Does your character wish people perceived them differently than they do? Do they have any qualities they wish got more recognition? Is there anything about your character's background or personality that they try to hide but can't? She is honestly very happy with "Oracle" being this whispered, mysterious, genderless moniker across most
shobogan
of the superhero community; no one knows who she is, they know what she does
shobogan
Even in her backstory, we see a teenage Babs downplaying her grades and faking an injury so she'll seem less intimidating once she decides she wants to be a vigilante
shobogan
Knowledge is power; a lack of knowledge, wielded properly, is also power. And having power is the most reliable way for her to feel comfortable.
shobogan
There are times she wishes she could broadcast that power to the world, and always be seen as the fucking terrifying genius she is, but they're indulgent and fleeting. More often, and more dangerously, she wishes she could bury her emotions or turn them off for a bit.
shobogan
no one let her do that

(LOL) and of course I'm over here like 🤔
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕
"let's let her do that"
shobogan
as you should tbh, mirrorverse oracle is the best/worst/best
shobogan
(there's also red hood babs but she's scary in different ways)
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕
she's just always interesting tbh
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕
like give me all the versions
shobogan
/glances at muse list and the list of barbaras WELL
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕
(LOL)
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕
and that right there
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕
that "I need to understand everything" impulse
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕
that's why you and I click lol
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕
also we're both just fabulous
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕
shobogan
and yet we torture ourselves with comic books
𝚢𝚘𝚞𝚛 𝚘𝚕𝚍 𝚙𝚊𝚕
I didn't say we were smart (LOL)

anstaar 5. How good are they at accurately assigning blame? Do they think everything is their fault? That nothing is? Portioning responsibility in a rational way is important, so that you can fix whatever you broke to the best of your ability and move forward. Honestly, Zerxus does a lot better when he HAS someone specific to blame
shobogan
because he has spent his entire life valuing the importance of understanding and forgiveness.
shobogan
(When Evandrin died he didn't know why, so there was a lot of aimless fury and resentment at the city in general; when he knew Laerryn unwittingly played a part he told her they both forgave has soon as he saw her again.)
shobogan
He's perfectly willing to accept when he has in fact Fucked Up, but he also won't stand there self-flagellating/being shouted at if there's still work to do.
shobogan
"We all played a part in ending the world! Now let's shut the fuck up and go save it."
shobogan
(He can be stubborn about being wrong about something, ie "asmodeus had to kill him three times before it really stuck")
shobogan
("YOU AREN'T THIS" says the paladin with a flaming sword through his heart)
shobogan
16. How sensitive are they to passive aggression or backhanded compliments? Do they ever read too much into things? He refuses to read more into things, either say what you mean or he doesn't give a fuck
shobogan
He'll make more of an effort on the Barge than in Avalir, though
shobogan
But man, he just finds double and triple speak exhausting
shobogan
(Enjoy the Nine Hells my guy)
