learning to do a thing, this took like 4 hours and like 3 tries to cast on and do the first few rows

and I still don't know how to get it off yet

of course I then immediately fucked up a purl row in a way I don't yet have the skills to fix, but this is just stitch practice, so I don't feel bad ripping it out and starting over

the end goal is Christmas stockings
