[myst liveplurk continued] Realized why my childhood memories of Myst are so fleeting that I can't even be 100% sure it was Myst when my family were huge adventure game junkies. There sure is a bunch of significant audio in this game and absolutely no subtitles.

Reminder: my mother is deaf

I'm pretty sure the game is actually unbeatable for a deaf person, tragically

...I found the Myst book but not either of the pages. Time to investigate more.

The sky will remain black until the enemy is destroyed
That sure is a blue sky now

"Atrus got up to some shit" is the central theme of the Myst canon
Vehrec

A detail in the Mechanical Age I keep returning to: there's a telescope in Sirrus's chamber in the fortress. In three of the fortress's orientations, it's pointed at absolutely nothing. In the fourth, it's pointed directly at a skeleton hanging on a sunken ship. Looking at this skeleton is the only thing this telescope is for.

My stance on the brothers continues to be that I trust neither of them, but I definitely trust Sirrus the least.
