At least with Pascal they were happy tears because him yelling at her for walking in on him in the bath meant he was grumpy and that meant he was back to normal!!

...I mean he was being grumpy at her earlier in the CD, so, not exactly that much of a change, but I guess Pascal can just perceive different levels of little bro bitchiness.

Also, as to why Pascal was in the manor baths in the first place, I guess Cheria was supposed to clean up there or something but forgot so Pascal volunteered.

And then the follow-up:

At the start of the Ephinean Olympics we get this:

It seems like Hubert apparently wants to do the whole thing solo unlike Windor and Fendel who've got some manpower but Sophie volunteers to join Team Strahta:

One minor detail I thought was interesting was that it's mentioned that the monsters in this exhibition match or whatever were specifically bred/created for the purposes of the competition, which seems to imply Fourier was involved somehow, but it's not really expanded on.

It only becomes a thing later on in the sense that trouble comes up because wild monsters ended up joining the fray due to a series of unfortunate events.

Asbel and Hubert end up staying behind to deal with the threat while Richard, Sophie, and Pascal make it back to home base.

...and since Richard happened to be in possession of the treasure that everyone was going for as part of the competition he wins the whole shebang.

Hubert apologizes to Paradine but Paradine says that Hubert nevertheless displayed leadership qualities in how he handled the whole thing, so if Hubert wants the promotion it's his.

Hubert declines because when all is said and done, he still didn't hold up his end of things.
