[RL] Had an appointment at the bank today to see about starting up some like...investment savings things 8V

Since there's a couple of large things that I want to save for in the next three years or so

one of them being "hey, maybe I can save towards buying my own place? Probably not a house because that's so expensive, but something or other"

and the government just introduced a new savings program where if you're saving for your first home, you can put in [x] amount every year tax-free for five years, so that seemed like a good deal for that

only when we went to start that and I had to put in my personal info, it pretty much denied me by going "this isn't available for US persons" because I had to list that I was born in the US?

even though I am now a Canadian citizen and have been paying my taxes to Canada for years??

so the bank person said they'd call about that, which good, do not want to deal with a phone nightmare like that if I can avoid it

and at least got set up with a different account that was basically, to my understanding, "put in [x] amount in this account for two years, do not touch it for two years, and then at the end of that time you will get it back plus [x] interest"

so, hopefully that'll be good for the other thing(s) I'm trying to save for...
