This is one of my son Charles's favorite songs. Music sometimes calms him.

I looked up Ms. Gentry on Wikipedia. What an interesting life

After her first albums, she had a successful run of variety shows on the Las Vegas Strip. In the late 1970s Gentry lost interest in performing, and subsequently retired from the music industry. News reports conflict on the subject of where she lives

liked this since childhood. Still dunno what got thrown off the bridge...

it was some sort of hand gun. But that may be a mistake to think that...

That was deliberate. She left it up to the listener to imagine because what it was really wasn't relevant to the story of how the family discussed his suicide.

It's implied that it was a baby. Or are we just joking around? I clicked nothing so no yelling at me!

2nd Elf on left : When she wrote it, she never revealed what it was. In the film, it was rag doll symbolizing leaving her childhood behind, but they never had sex.

Of course it's possible. However, we'll never know.

The questions the song sparks in us - that's what matters.

2nd Elf on left : what bugs me is that June 3 is way too early for chopping cotton but whatever
Arbieroo
Tamsie : so you're saying, wait a cotton-picking minute! It's not cotton-picking season, yet! ;-)
