[dogsitting] Conundrum. I'm taking care of a skittish boy with a history of biting. We made good progress while owner was here, but he's regressed a little without his comfort person.

Owner already specified he'd understand if I spent as little time at the house as possible, if Hibou was anxious. And honestly, the living situation is REALLY uncomfortable.

The bed is in the basement, no facilities or even a space for my clothes/stuff other than the floor or on top of the kid's toys.

bathroom and kitchen fixtures are awkward and I can't find towels.

Kitchen is Hibou's safe space so using it for cooking/eating/writing means climbing over gates and upsetting him
Luke Skywanker
would it be the wrongest thing ever to sleep at home and go over several times a day to check in him and try to socialize?
Luke Skywanker
I'm just really out of sorts with the living sitch + Hibou's anxiety and I'm not sure what's gained by my sleeping on a different floor anyway
Shan-aconda
No it wouldn’t
Luke Skywanker
Shan-aconda : it feels slightly dishonest but also harmless
Luke Skywanker
it's not like they don't have multiple locks AND a dog
Shan-aconda
Uncomfortable around the doggos isn’t healthy for your or the doggo.
Shan-aconda
The other choice is to upset him and let him get used to you. But you said he had a bite history.
Luke Skywanker
Yeah I'm not really worried about that part, it's only happened when people reach for him
Luke Skywanker
Because it's not just the dog that's the issue. It's the fact that the conditions at the house are awkward. It's the sort of thing where if it's your house and you know you're in the middle of updates it's probably fine, but for me it feels like squatting because I have no real living space.
StupidSexyV⚠der
yeah that's understandable and a like a decent plan for both of you
Luke Skywanker
StupidSexyV⚠der : thanks. I want to do what's best for him but 11 days like that?
StupidSexyV⚠der
yeah
