God of Brats
: akikuro is funny cuz it is absolutely on paper just designed to cater to my ship preferences but in practice I don't proc it as a ship that much. partly this is bc it's kind of selfcest but I CAN get real into selfcest in a shipping sense so that's not necessarily??? a barrier in and of itself
but I think it's more bc I made them to rp both of them and it's just not fun if it's a huge defining consuming romance that both of them revolve around when I'm rping both sides of it in a group setting
obviously they're still anchored to each other either way but on that level it's more fun if they're a more static dynamic and they need to bounce off other people for movement
WHEN I WAS A WEE BABE AND THE SERIES WAS STILL ONGOING I THOUGHT IT WAS TOO HARD TO THINK OF WHY THEY WOULD EVEN WANT TO BE AROUND EACH OTHER LONG ENOUGH TO KISS AND BC OF THAT ALL THE FIC WAS BAD AND OOC TBH
but in general their dynamic when it was just the two of them DID tend to be stilted and not as fun as their interactions with other characters. I like ships that get the characters to open up and show different sides of themselves to each other and early series yukikyo really explicitly was a mutual slamming the door shut with prejudice
adding Tohru helped their dynamic but otoh Tohru's dynamics with each of them separately were also better than the dynamic of all three of them together,
I FEEL A LITTLE GUILTY THAT I DID GET SO INVESTED BEFORE ACTUALLY CONSUMING SCARABIA CHAPTER FOR SO LONG AND SO I DID HAVE SOME SLIGHT MISJUDGMENTS ON WHAT THEY WERE ACTUALLY LIKE. LMAO

: ISAGI/BACHIRA IS CUTE but it's funny that it isn't my favorite ship for either of them when they're so married. I think it's just that Blue Lock is such a "growth through conflict" focused series and Isagi and Bachira really don't have any adversarial tension
Isagi/Nagi feels a little one-sided to me at this point which is funny because it's one-sided from the emotional baby chick idiot direction so it almost feels like nothing is happening at all sometimes
not that Isagi has no emotional investment in Nagi but while he admires Nagi there's less to chew on longterm because Nagi's play philosophy is so opposite from Isagi's that Isagi can't get as much out of it
I think Isagi is REALLY VITALLY IMPORTANT TO NAGI'S CHARACTER and I really enjoy it from that end. I deeply enjoy that he's a huge motivating factor for Nagi who doesn't even fully realize that is what's happening to him
it has a lot of flexibility as a ship in a way cuz they are so settled and old married couple but also have so much self-contradiction and push-pull baked in
I THINK IT'S FUN THAT THEY'RE A PAIR WHO CAN AND WILL GO BEHIND EACH OTHER'S BACKS AND IT SIMULTANEOUSLY DOES ACTUALLY SURPRISE THEM AND DOESN'T ACTUALLY DAMAGE THEIR TRUST IN EACH OTHER
yukikyo fandom aggressively pspspspsing me to their side of the fence
