[cats and also tiny snakes] the boys just brought in another blindsnake
skerple
she was unharmed and very wiggly so I gently scooped her up and put her outside in the leaf litter under the mesquite tree
skerple
nice loose substrate with plenty of ants for her to munch on
skerple
honestly this is actually quite exciting, I didn't see where the last one got released so I've been lowkey worried she might not have found her way back to an acceptable habitat
skerple
but this means we still have at least one blindsnake in the yard \o/ yay tiny ant predators

I looked them up and they’re cute! Also learned that they’re all female and reproduce by parthenogenesis. Neat
skerple
Yeah!! I had no idea what they were the first time Tall dragged one in
skerple
it was just like "what the fuck is that wiggly licorice??"
skerple
also I couldn't properly appreciate that first discovery because even though I was like 99% sure a snek that small did not pose any kind of threat, my understanding is that the rule of thumb with snakes is "assume venomous until confirmed otherwise"
skerple
but this time I knew she was perfectly harmless
skerple
cute confused lil licorice noodle
Nancy Crawfish
That’s a wise snake policy
