Progress: MY mother is starting to be more open-minded to trans people, mostly because it's the newest conservative boogeyman and it's starting to get on her nerves

it's a step in the right direction I guess lolol

she saw trump say something about eradicating trans people and she had a viceral reaction

she really, really hates trump

so if it comes from his mouth, it's like an opposite reaction disgust

a step in the right direction

she has been a bit more open in general about it. asked me some genuine good faith questions

and I find that if I approach by validating that yeah, it can be confusing, and as a cis person, I don't think I'll ever totally understand! but it's still important to support people who are having their rights threatened

she responds a bit better

yeah, she the kind of person that personally would not have an abortion, BUT, she also understands that there is so much more behind the issue (like lack of support to mothers, etc) that makes it necessary that she does not want the right taken away from anyone

so when it's framed as preventing suffering of trans people, she can see it that way
