This is an interest check for a panfandom horror-smut game set in a void world populated solely by a vaguely eastern european castle village! Keep reading for more info.
Welcome to Rubilykskoye! Upon arriving in a forest infested with spider monsters, characters will discover curse marks tattooed on their bodies. As a result of the curse, if characters do not regularly indulge their violent and/or sexual urges, they will transform into monsters.
How and why your characters arrived will be answered as characters interact with the town's various npcs, including the mysterious duchess living in the castle, and as players proactively engage with events.
Players can expect events to alternate between the erotic and grotesque, though many will combine the two. The game will heavily feature eldritch body horror, religious cult behavior, and animalistic behaviors and urges.
The nitty-gritty: - There is a mod-run storyline with the first 'phase' outlined at about two years; - PC actions can and will influence the outcome of events; - This game is locked and invite-only; - App rounds are monthly; - It has no minimum comment count for AC; - There is an activity rewards shop.
Players can influence the outcome of events in a number of ways. In addition to giving players the chance to thread with NPCs to learn more about the game's plot and world, some events will allow game-wide votes on outcomes, while others will afford RNG opportunities for players to sign-up for an important role.

' Plurk friends list is already invited! Invited players who join in the first round are welcome to bring a +1, but should note that they're doing so on our interest check posted in the OOC community.
shadowesque thank you! we really wanted to make it so that it brought together the elements of both in the events and stuff but that people could in general lean towards one or the other side of the spectrum as better suited their interest
question about smut requirements! so if the characters dont want to smut they can just go for the entire horror aspect of the game? and turn into monsters?
Mhm! The smut aspects of the game will still be around and pervading the atmosphere but they themselves can lean into violence instead of sexual impulses either by choice or by consequence of opting out of sexual stuff.
How would transformations work? I read in the FAQ that characters change the more they go without either fucking or fucking up. But for instance, I assume characters change during events, or as some AC reward?

Transformations are based on timeline without indulging violent or sexual impulses but ALSO can be triggered by strong emotional reactions that make them more unstable, etc., as well as be heightened by events, yes!
So characters who are Doing Everything Right will still have opportunities to transform, but also Doing Everything Right can itself provoke partial or more transformation in its own right.
this is all very well put and well-orchestrated / succinct and i am loving the concept of a horror game and a sex game bc are they not sometimes the same thing? i'd expect no less from

i hope to tdm when it's up can't wait to see those prompts
To my best understanding of Barovia, they won't be similar! These villagers are welcoming and open to integrating the PCs into their culture, which is (oc)cultish in its own right—not a normie/xenophobic contrast to the spooky castle dweller(s) that often come with the gothic genre.
Whether or not I end up managing the tdm (and/or seek an invite), I think the idea of a horrorsmut game where you can lean either direction is awesome. I enjoy smut on occasion, but have never dared a game based on it exclusively. I think this could be a lot of fun. I've only played one DW game, and it's slice of life, so a lot would be new for me.
For sure. It's just the first game I've seriously considered picking up as a second; I think a lot of it sounds really neat. I'm going to try to do the tdm and see how it goes. I just get nervous when I'm doing something new that's so different. Especially without being able to see examples of gameplay so I know what would be expected of me.
I think it's hard to gauge in general because there's no community established yet. Since most games depends on player base, and there is no player base at the moment...
