So the QFC app has digital coupons

If you make an account you can go through a big list and be like “oh neat, a dollar off of pop tarts.” And add it to your account

Then it automatically deducts a dollar off your pop tarts when you check out

The problem

Is that they put the digital coupon price on the shelf

So it’ll say like

“Cherry pop tarts: 3.99. With store card: 2.99. With digital coupon: 1.99”

And people will look at the price tag for one second and think “pop tarts are 1.99”

And then get mad when I explain that unless you mess around with the app or go to our website you don’t get that last dollar

I get that at my retail job, too, for the same... but also that we keep running out of membership cards at our membership wholesale club, and we have to push people to the app or they just can't buy stuff.

My store does this and it fooled me once... It's v easy to get "discount card price" and "digital coupon price" mixed up unless you're really paying attention

And I do kind of resent it because it won't even let me use paper coupons for things the paper coupon book is advertising coupons for

The paper coupon slip is useless and exists just to funnel you into the app to make an account to get the digital one
